| Raising money for Haiti |
|
Hard Rock Cafe and Cardiff’s Queens Arcade have partnered up to raise much needed funds to support relief operations in Haiti. Over the past few days a total of £500 was raised through the selling of red Hard Rock branded bracelets in the shopping arcade with all monies being sent to the Yele Haiti charity. Haitian musician and founder of the charity, Wyclef Jean has set up an emergency Earthquake Relief Fund to help his disaster-stricken homeland. Hard Rock, which has a long standing relationship with Yele Haiti started selling these wristbands in November in a bid to alleviate suffering caused by the extreme food poverty found in Haiti but now all efforts have switched to the emergency relief fund. “We were delighted with the support from Cardiff’s shoppers” said Paul McNally, General Manager of Hard Rock Cafe Cardiff, “The public can continue to support our fundraising in Hard Rock Cafe by rounding up their bill via our ‘Crank it up’ programme. All monies raised will go directly to ‘Yele Haiti” Queens Arcade shoppers can also support the aid effort for Haiti a number of ways including via the Queens Arcade website www.queensarcade.info Queens Arcade Centre Manager Nick Beckett said, “Along with the rest of the community we have been shocked and saddened at the plight of Haitians following the appalling earthquake on Tuesday. We are delighted that our extremely generous customers were able to support the Hard Rock Cafe’s fundraising last week. “We urge all Queens Arcade and Hard Rock Cafe customers to continue to support the various appeals in any way they can.”
